If you die without an estate plan, your children will inherit their portion of your estate as soon as they turn 18 (all of it at one time). Maybe that’s what you want. But maybe you would like for a responsible adult to help manage that money for them until they are mature enough to handle it on their own. That’s what a Trust is for. You decide who manages your assets and who receives them…including when and how they receive the assets.
